Introducing the firm
Meet the firm changing the game. Right now, Hogan Lovells' 2,600 lawyers are working worldwide on cases that shape legal precedent; projects that enable innovation for prestigious clients. And across 48 global locations, we’re doing it all seamlessly, as one team.
Types of work
What does our global reach mean for you? Exposure to exciting, headline-grabbing legal projects which help our clients look to the future and become even more successful. Join us, and you’ll develop a deep understanding of our bold and distinctive approach to creating valuable global solutions, as you learn from wide-ranging specialists. Not only that, you’ll tap into a broad range of practice groups here, which include: Corporate and Finance, Global Regulatory and (Intellectual Property Media and Technology (IPMT), and Litigation Arbitration and Employment (LAE).
With all kinds of opportunities at your fingertips – and plenty of dedicated support – you’ll grow your legal expertise, discover the interests that drive you, and develop the commercial edge that sets us apart.
Each year, we take on up to 50 graduates (from law and non-law degree subjects) as trainee solicitors. As of autumn 2021, all our trainees will start by successfully completing the brand-new Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE), with those from non-law backgrounds having first gained a Postgraduate Diploma in Law (PGDL). But don’t worry – our bespoke and market-leading City Consortium Solicitor Training Programme will provide you with everything you need to prepare and succeed.
With these qualifications in hand, you’ll then join us for two years of training: doing four six-month seats across our different practice groups. Plus, for one of those seats, you’ll have the chance to apply for an international or client secondment. Throughout, you’ll enjoy expert guidance and advice, comprehensive legal skills training, and regular reviews.
Who we look for
As one of the world’s largest and most established law firms, we tackle fascinating and complex legal issues for our clients. So we look for smart, collaborative and determined individuals from all kinds of backgrounds and with all kinds of experience. You must also be the kind of person who adapts well to new situations, delivers on their promises and has the creativity to take ideas in new directions. Above all, you must be able to work well with others and build lasting relationships with colleagues and clients alike.
