A chance to make your mark

Our summer internship programme, which runs from June to August each year, offers penultimate-year students a unique insight into investment banking and a taste of life at Houlihan Lokey. The programme takes place at our London offices and includes a 10-week placement in one of our business areas.

While many of our interns go on to take up analyst or associate positions with us the following September, a summer internship with Houlihan Lokey is never just practice for the real thing. Whichever team you are placed with, you can expect real-life exposure, doing real work at the frontline of projects and transactions.

Because we typically have a greater deal volume than some other banks, and our teams are smaller, your input is especially important. You’ll be expected to step up, think for yourself, and make yourself heard – because your colleagues want to hear what you have to say. In return for your contribution, you can expect to receive excellent support, encouragement, and learning and development opportunities. In addition to an initial in-depth induction week, you’ll have constant chances to develop your knowledge, ask questions and learn from some of the best people in the industry.

From our perspective, the programme is an excellent way for us to spot talent. Depending on your abilities and how you apply yourself over the course of the summer, for the right person the offer of a permanent graduate position is very much achievable.

What we look for

We look for highly motivated individuals with a strong academic track record, who are on course to achieve a 2:1 degree or equivalent. Equally, in addition to intellectual rigour, we are looking for those with the passion, hunger, and curiosity required to succeed in our industry. Strong quantitative and analytical skills are important, of course, as are excellent verbal and written communication skills. As we expand geographically, the ability to speak one or more additional languages will also prove useful.

Above all, you must be highly motivated and able to demonstrate a genuine interest in investment banking, as well as the ability to work cooperatively with all levels of staff in a demanding and rapidly changing environment. If that sounds like you, then please take the time to visit our website and take your first steps towards a career with Houlihan Lokey.
