Innovate UK (part of UK Research and Innovation – UKRI), works with people, companies and partner organisations to find and drive the technology, business models, process and commercial innovations and leadership that will grow the UK economy - delivering productivity, higher value jobs and exports. Our aim at Innovate UK is to keep the UK globally competitive in the race for future prosperity.

Ambitious, exciting and client/consumer focused, our 2-year programme will provide you with a detailed understanding of Innovate UK’s activities whilst ensuring you develop a broad range of personal skills. For each placement, you will work as a core part of a dedicated team from day 1 and given real responsibility on high profile projects working with partners from across UKRI and the UK business community. As one of our graduates, you will find yourself immersed in a variety of opportunities with hands-on experience. We offer either a rotational programme or a fixed placement for the whole 2 years in a specific function. Whichever route you are selected for, you will develop highly valued skills and key experiences which may include: data analysis, project and/or portfolio management, engagement with external partners, procurement, handling investments, risk management,  report compilation, benefits realisation and Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI), performance analysis, marketing and communications.

Your work will matter and produce real outcomes.  You will be able to influence your experiences based upon your abilities and interest.  Our graduates on the scheme have an outstanding opportunity to grow and develop their professional skills!

Ideally, you have a passion for change and creativity which you will be able to demonstrate to us. We consider all types of degree from business related, community & people based to STEM; whatever your subject area it will have helped you develop excellent analytical and interpersonal skills. Either way, you'll need a strong interest in innovation, the art of the possible and technology, with a clear view of how it supports business growth in the UK. You will also need to be willing to be mobile, as travel will be expected in this role.

  • Achieved, or expecting to achieve, a 2.1 or above.
  • Numerate and confident in working with both quantitative and qualitative data
  • Confident communicator
  • Highly organised
  • Pro-active and demonstrates initiative to complete tasks
  • Highly collaborative – confident and effective working in a team environment
