Our Logistics Concept Design Graduate Programme puts you at the heart of Ocado Group’s future successes. Working as part of the CFC Solution Design Team, you will work to develop the concept design for future Customer Fulfilment Centres (CFCs - our automated warehouses). It’s a team that combines analytical and creative skills and we have ambitious plans to grow our UK and international CFC estate. You will be part of the team making this happen, designing new facilities to meet our partners’ unique needs. You can see inside one of our Automated Warehouses here.
Based at our Hatfield head office, you will work closely with your immediate team, as well as with stakeholders from across the business, to help resolve current challenges and identify future ones before they happen. You will be exposed to various projects at different stages of completion and design solutions both independently and collaboratively, using SketchUp to bring your ideas to life. If you like the idea of being trained to help design some of the most innovative solutions within logistics currently, then this is the programme for you.
Structure of the scheme
The CFC Solution Design Team incorporates technologies and innovations from across Ocado Group into each of our CFC sites. You will spend time in one of our CFCs to learn the ins and outs of how they operate and the logistical requirements.
As the scheme is designed for you to get a broad overview of our business, you will then rotate around a number of key departments including: CFC Operations; Service Delivery; Supply Chain; Business Planning; Automation Development; New CFCs Programme Management; and Operational Excellence. Each rotation will be at least one month long.
This will develop your core skills, knowledge of Ocado Group, and your network across the business. When you join the Solution Design Team, you will actively participate in the design of future CFCs. As a Logistics Concept Design graduate, you will play an important role in Ocado Group’s future.
This graduate scheme will see you develop creative solutions that combine the essential elements of our CFCs, in order to meet the requirements of our partners. While it is a design-focused logistics role, it is not necessary to have studied a specific degree course to be successful. As well as logistics and design graduates, this programme has attracted engineers, mathematicians, physicians, biologists and artists, who have all gone on to flourish in this business area. We want creative, original, enthusiastic graduates for this design-led role who are team players, can think innovatively, are willing to try new things, and would rather try and fail than not try at all.
We are innovators, we are creators and we are problem solvers. We are Ocado Group Grads, are you?.
We offer flexibility on your location
Wherever possible, we offer the option to work from almost any location* for up to 30 calendar days a year, giving our teams the flexibility to be closer to family, expand their horizons, or simply have a change of scenery.
Balance and wellbeing are important to us, and taking a break is key. We also want everyone to use all of their annual leave. That’s why we offer you the possibility of attaching up to two weeks of annual leave to your work-from-anywhere, giving you the chance of extending your stay in your chosen destination.
*Conditions apply to where you can work from
We have a hybrid workplace
We embrace a hybrid working pattern because we know flexibility is crucial for our people.
Where the roles allow it, our teams work together in the office, two to three coordinated days a week. The focus is to relate, interact, and collaborate.
For the rest of the week, there is the option to work remotely.
We connect in person
We believe that working face to face is a huge part of the Ocado Group DNA. This is how we collaborate, learn and innovate.
Our ability to come together in our teams helps us to be great, and we’re passionate about keeping the connection intact.
We have a client first approach
Our relationships with our global partners are incredibly important, and we continue to nurture them.
Whenever possible, we favour face-to-face connections. We’re also taking a sensible approach. Where video conferencing is an effective means to connect with people, we expect to see less travel.
One size doesn’t fit all
We recognise that what may work for one area of the business may not work for another, so each business area leads the approach to the way they work.
Our Application Process
Applications to our schemes open on 4th October 2021 and should be made through the Ocado group website. Due to high volumes of applications our vacancy close dates are subject to change and our suggestion would be to apply as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Applicants who successfully complete these will be invited to attend a Virtual Assessment Center which is being held on 6th December 2021. We’ve designed the process to be able to get to know you and to see what you’re capable of. Successful candidates will be invited to begin their roles in September 2022.
