This experience will provide unique insights into both Macquarie and the broader financial services industry and can set you up for a successful career once you have completed your studies.

Our Technology team works on delivering innovative technological solutions to provide fast and reliable systems to place trades, deliver value and position us to be competitive within the market. Our teams are responsible for driving simplification and consolidation of our technology architecture and efficiency of our key infrastructure platforms and own strategic initiatives such as cyber security, and public and private cloud programs.

  • Software Developers/ Front Office Support Engineers/ Business Analysts

Technology is an integrated division with a strong infrastructure and operations basis that supports all of Macquarie, layered with strong business and enterprise-wide solutions. Our portfolio of work spans across significant strategic initiatives, business initiatives and external and regulatory initiatives. The work we do demonstrates the extent to which Technology is integral to Macquarie’s businesses.

You’ll work closely with senior IT and finance professionals, learning how technology is used to manage risk in a global financial institution. Key responsibilities of the role include implementing software design, testing and deployment best practices; identifying opportunities to improve technology infrastructure and executing the process of planning and communicating change. You will develop and code our applications and platforms, which will involve high technical analysis, problem solving skills and mathematical abilities.

  • Automation Engineers

As a Summer Intern you will work in an agile environment, focusing on the automation of products across a hybrid cloud platform. Your role will involve hands-on development including maintaining code bases, application deployments, and automating testing capabilities. You will be part of a team which is responsible for public and private cloud infrastructure, troubleshooting and overseeing operational projects which will involve high technical analysis and problem-solving skills.

Projects are highly varied and can range from specialised risk management applications for front-office staff to regulatory dashboards to specialised data visualisation applications on desktop and mobile devices.

Each UX project can vary in its approach but essentially follows similar stages, namely Discovery, Analysis, Design and Implementation. To cover this process, the principal roles in the team are UX Designers (user research, personas analysis and task analysis, sketches and wireframes), Visual Designers (prototypes and high-resolution visual designs) and finally a front-end (technology) development team for implementation. Designers work on Apple Mac computers using a range of tools.

The team is highly skilled and experienced, and you will gain valuable exposure to understanding what’s it like to work in a modern, digital design team and profit from their mentorship of your work.
