We are seeking interested applicants to have achieved or be expected to achieve a 2:1 in one of the following degrees; Business, Engineering, Science, Environment, Safety or a related degree – that’s it!.... no prior experience needed.

Your Graduate scheme
At Welsh Water, we have developed a Graduate Programme, which will develop leaders for the future, which promotes work to be completed across the business in a compliant manner, safely, on time and to budget, whist motivating our people to continually improve what they do and ‘earn the trust of our customers every day’.
During your time as a Graduate, you will learn the foundations of leadership, effective team building and working together on how to lead and work effectively with others. This role is primarily based in our Water Services department however there will be options to complete placements in other areas of the business.
It's our job to look after your water, and although rain falls freely from the sky, we put a lot of work, energy and love into getting every single drop of water to you. We supply high quality drinking water to over 3 million customers in over 1.4 million homes and business across Wales. That means cleaning and delivering more than 800 million litres of water every day. Supplying safe drinking water at all times is our most important responsibility and this means that our tap water must be free from harmful chemicals and bacteria and have a good taste.
Your Welsh Water Graduate Programme will provide you with the opportunity to further develop your skills, knowledge and experience. Your 2-year programme will include 4 placements where you will be supported by your line manager and mentor.
As part of your 6 month placement, here’s some of the departments / projects that you could be involved with;
- Water and Waste Services

Your Development:
As a part of your programme, you will take part in a number of soft skills workshops, including the following:
- Presentation Skills
- Effective Team Working
- Resilience
- Personal Branding
- Time Management
- Problem Solving
- Managing Difficult Conversations
- Project Management
In addition, you will be given the opportunity to work on a variety of projects with your fellow graduates, such as organising, developing and running a conference event for the Institute of Water. This will allow you to develop your interpersonal and leadership skills, whilst working collaboratively with your peers.
You will also be given the opportunity to work on key business projects within your specialised field.
Good to know
Your graduate scheme will primarily be based South-East Wales. However, on occasions and with notice you may be expected to travel to sites across the whole of Wales and its borders.
Recruitment process - Upon application, you will receive a short behavioural assessment to complete. This should take 15-20 minutes. Should your application meet our criteria, you'll be invited to an Open day. The following stage of assessment will be an in-person assessment centre, both open day and assessment centre will likely take place at our head office (Cardiff) between February/March 2024. Further information will be provided closer to the time.
