Our graduate electrical engineers work in world class teams to design and deliver sustainable solutions. Our work spans a variety of sectors including Energy, Aviation, Buildings, Ports, Rail & metros and water. In our Energy Sector we undertake projects in power transmission and distribution, energy systems, hydropower, renewable energy, thermal generation, nuclear services, and oil & gas.

As the digital revolution is applied to the provision of essential services, electrical engineering will play a central role in creating smart infrastructure, helping to deliver better and quicker performance.

This graduate placement will be within our Energy Sector – Transmission and distribution division where you’ll have the chance to work on large scale projects alongside our teams.

Accessible, efficient and flexible transmission and distribution networks are critical to meeting demand while achieving carbon and resilience targets. Increasing renewable integration requires significant investment in infrastructure. Our clients are seeking improved interconnection, increased resilience and grid reinforcement via modern, cost effective technologies.

Our teams provide the full range of services for transmission and distribution connectivity – from problem resolution, failure analysis and forensic engineering, to risk and asset management, failure effect analysis and reliability assessments.

You will have the opportunity to work with utilities, governments, contractors, investors and original equipment manufacturers on:

  • Electrical systems
  • Grid connection and interconnection
  • Renewable generation integration
  • High voltage direct current (HVDC)
  • Flexible alternating current transmission systems
  • Overhead transmission lines
  • Substations
  • Underground/submarine cables
  • Electromagnetic transient analysis
  • Industrial installations
  • Power system analysis
  • Smart networks
  • Digitalisation

This role will be based in our Dublin office.

Candidate Specification

We are looking for flexible and motivated graduates with a genuine passion for electrical power engineering, and a desire to make a difference in the world. If this describes you, apply today to launch your career at Mott MacDonald.

To apply for this scheme, you will have less than 12 months experience and have achieved a 2:1 or above in one of the following degree disciplines:

  • Engineering (Electrical)
  • Engineering (Power Engineering related degree)

In your application you should be able to demonstrate your interest through relevant experience, such as studying relevant modules, or previous work experience.

We are looking for graduates with the following characteristics:

  • Methodical approach to problem solving
  • Ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members.
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail and be able to demonstrate accurate technical drawings and good report writing.
