The Process Engineer will employ some or all of the following: knowledge and experience of Drug Product unit operations, process engineering and modelling to support the development, scale-up and manufacture of drug products in development and during product lifecycle management. Drive Process Understanding, Capability and Control improvement projects to support the site strategy, delivering safe, compliant and robust operations from a Process Engineering perspective. Collaborative working for ensuring optimized and thoroughly understood DP manufacturing platforms are in place across lab, pilot and commercial scale (including key external partners and lifecycle PSC sites)
- To work as part of a multi-disciplinary development team, liaising efficiently with Formulators, Engineers and Particle Scientists, to deliver the work packages required to understand formulation unit operations and scale these-up effectively.
- To make innovative contributions to the department by providing experimental data, technical insight and modelling of data to solve complex process development problems using excellent practical and theoretical understanding.
- The job holder may act as an expert in specific unit operations. As such, they will be expected to master a body of knowledge for that unit operation and use this to act as the functional expert in the department. This expertise will be focused on project problems primarily within the NCE portfolio.
- To advance scientific understanding and improve current ways of working in field of expertise by actively participating to internal or external technical focus networks.
- To enable sound decisions by your influence in matrix teams, through depth of technical knowledge and effective communication.
- Utilise effective planning to deliver the above efficiently and where required, enable work packages to be outsourced.
- To deliver the above in a precise and timely manner, adhering to safety and quality expectations.
- Be technically persuasive both within GSK, for example, with peers in other departments, or externally, with the academic community
- Demonstrate innovative thinking and be able to clearly drive the development of the Process Engineering discipline as a whole.
- Where applicable, liaise with Process Analytical Technology (PAT) experts to understand the relationship between measurement, impact of variability in raw materials and intermediates, environmental conditions, equipment conditions, manual operations and their integration with the control strategy delivering process confirmation.
Must studying an undergraduate degree in Science or Engineering.
You will have completed a minimum of 2 years of your undergraduate degree but will not have graduated at the start of your placement. You will be expected to provide evidence from your university to show you will be an undergraduate student for the duration of the placement year.
