Designing world-leading power systems is one thing. Actually seeing them through to fruition is something else entirely. And that’s where our Manufacturing Engineering team comes in. Join our Manufacturing Engineering Graduate Development Programme, and you’ll have a vital role to play in delivering our customer promises, and achieving the most exacting standards. Life in this team is about continually developing processes, acquiring capabilities and exploiting technologies that will keep us at the forefront of global manufacturing. Drawing on your practical mindset and relentlessly inquisitive, creative nature, you’ll help to transform ideas into physical products, and our significant order book into profitable reality. This is work that you can be genuinely proud of.

The programme

You’ll be based in one of our businesses, so you can expect to gain an end-to-end knowledge of manufacturing engineering in Civil Aerospace, Defence or Power Systems. That knowledge will be gained as you work on live projects during three four-month placements in the teams that introduce new products, develop and implement new technology and focus on continuously improving products and processes. In addition to these placements, you’ll partner with your fellow graduates to deliver your own design and manufacture project, working to solve a real business issue. Along the way, you’ll undertake comprehensive training and be supported by line managers, career coaches and your own development consultant.

What you’ll do

Manufacturing Engineering places a big focus on teamwork. It means you’ll be collaborating with great minds in a fast-paced, high-tech environment. Expect to take on real responsibility as you introduce major pieces of equipment, develop efficiency-improving manufacturing systems or tackle continuity threats. It could be that you’re integrating activity for manufacturing launch plans, helping our suppliers develop more efficient methodologies or introducing new products into production. It’s complex and challenging work that will get your career off to a great start.

What you’ll need

We look for people who are creative and agile in their approach. Technical abilities are a must too, so you’ll need at least a 2:1 bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Maths, a relevant Physical Science, Computer Science or equivalent qualification. You should be a team player, with excellent communication skills, real flexibility and plenty of initiative. Finally, your inquiring mind and resourceful approach mean you’ll relish the opportunity to solve complex problems and share your ideas.

What you’ll get

  • Competitive salary
  • Work towards professional membership of bodies such as IMechE, RAeS or IET
  • Bonus schemes
  • A competitive pension
  • Leisure facilities and numerous sports societies and social activities
  • An inclusive, welcoming environment – we know that the more diverse we are, the stronger we can become
