Corporate Tax: Get the career you want at RSM

Our corporate tax graduate programme will give you all the skills and support you need to unlock a future that’s packed with opportunities and new experiences. You will enjoy a powerful combination of on-the-job learning and structured training – not to mention an impressive client list to work with.

Join our team and discover a culture that nurtures individuality and an environment where everyone is supported to reach their potential. With us, you’ll always be moving forward.

What does our corporate tax team do?

Tax is a fact of life – it’s deducted from our wages, added to things we buy, paid by companies and rarely out of the news headlines these days.

But a career in tax isn’t just about numbers. It’s about working with people and businesses to make sure tax doesn’t become an obstacle to their long-term goals.

On a day-to-day basis, our team helps organisations comply with the shifting requirements of the tax authorities and pay the right amount of tax, so they avoid criminal convictions, hefty fines and damage to their reputations. We also help shape business strategies so organisations can legally reduce the amount of tax they pay.

This role is within our specialist Innovation Reliefs team which assists companies in the preparation of claims for Research & Development tax relief. This specialism is an important part of our tax practice returning double digit growth each year. We work with companies across all sectors, most notably manufacturing, engineering, life sciences, software and digital technologies. We wish to attract graduates with a degree across science, engineering, technology or information technology (IT), eg computer science, to help in this area whilst having access to wider tax experience and qualifications.

What can you expect?

Our programme will provide you with an opportunity to build deep R&D tax relief knowledge and also give you a solid foundation in a broad range of tax issues. With us, you’ll be involved in projects from day one – anything from liaising with and visiting clients to preparing and completing R&D reports and corporation tax returns.

The variety of work we do and the range of clients we work with mean you’ll have plenty of opportunity to discover a career path that fits your interests and long-term goals. With our support you’ll have the space to grow professionally so you can confidently take on ever-more challenging tasks.

At RSM, you’ll gain hands-on experience alongside access to on-the-job mentoring. You’ll also be able to access our expert training programmes and have the opportunity to work towards the ATT qualification.

After completing your ATT, our internal mentors can help you decide whether you then study towards the CTA (Chartered Tax Adviser) qualification or joint CTA/ACA qualification and will give you all the support you need to make a confident decision about your next step.

You will be working directly with a member of the team who joined RSM through the same graduate programme, being directed by senior staff across the region. This route has been proven to work and we will offer the opportunity through the recruitment process to speak with the individual who has been through the programme to get a ‘real world’ view on what to expect, both with the day job and studying requirements.

What we look for

Tax is a technically demanding discipline, so we look for graduates who are always up for a challenge and are quick to grasp new subjects. We also look for team players who can communicate clearly and are curious about how businesses work. While you don’t have to be a maths genius, you will need to be comfortable with numbers. Our Innovation Reliefs team look for graduates with a scientific, technological or IT background as this provides a real edge amongst your peer group. If that sounds like you, we know you’ll enjoy being part of our team.

Why RSM?

You will work on an impressive client list – from technology start-ups to multinational businesses. The variety of projects will challenge you every day, helping you expand your capabilities and grow professionally. And with access to a global team that spans more than 120 countries, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to broaden your horizons. Discover a culture that nurtures individuality and celebrates fresh thinking. Find your future at RSM.

RSM will only take one application into consideration per intake. We do not accept multiple applications to different vacancies.
