Quality Service

Our Field Engineers are on the front line of business, involved in all phases - from acquiring the first data needed for drilling decisions to designing plans for long-range development of complex multi-well, multi-reservoir fields. They provide this data from some of the world’s toughest environments. Living and working at a well-site means the conditions are often rough and the job is high pressure. Regardless of the job you do with Schlumberger, all our people are focused on delivering service excellence, no matter what the conditions. We have to be on top of our game 24/7 because the results of our work have multimillion dollar consequences for our clients

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The role of a Field Engineer Trainee is to plan, run and report the operations in the field environment (onshore and offshore rigs). Depending on the operational segment (Wireline, Cementing, Drilling and Measurement, Well Testing, IDS, SPM), you will gain exposure to different well site operations or participate in teams in developing concepts, designing, building, installing and operating upstream production facilities. You will also be expected to perform and manage specific field operations at the operations base and well site, which includes but is not limited to: engineering design, equipment maintenance, job planning, equipment preparation, installation, reception testing, the operation of equipment at the well site, well site trouble shooting, rig down of equipment and operational reporting to the client and direct manager. In some cases the Field Engineer Trainee may be expected to work in the client’s office supporting a project.

Training and Career Development

The transition from Trainee to Field Engineer doesn't happen overnight. We encourage our Trainees to accept increased responsibility as soon as they are ready to do so. Given appropriate levels of supervision and support, our Trainees operate as Field Engineers from the day that they join us. When you join Schlumberger as Field Engineer Trainee, you initially follow a fixed-step training programme which lasts three years. We ensure you have the right training to develop quickly and advance in your role. The training programme blends technical, safety, personal development, business and managerial courses, and on-the-job validated training.

A key part of our commitment to develop our people is our global network of Learning Centres. Courses held in our Centres range from a few days to 12 weeks in duration. Our Centres are busy year round, and hold a variety of concurrent courses.

After completion of the fixed step training there are many opportunities to progress; throughout your career there will be opportunities to move across different business functions and roles as well as the possibility to move to different geographic areas. We offer early responsibility for all candidates and, for those who thrive on this, promotion can come quickly.

Who are we looking for

Candidates need to demonstrate exceptional academic ability. The minimum requirement is 2:1 BEng degree, in an Engineering subject or Applied Science (or equivalent qualification).

You will be required to demonstrate evidence of leadership and team working skills, as well as exceptional self-motivation, adaptability, communication skills and the ability to work under pressure.

This is part of an ongoing Milkround recruitment programme for a period for 48 months.
