The successful candidate will form part of a multi-disciplinary team developing novel techniques of automated inference and decision-making, that integrate to form an autonomous drilling system. The candidate will contribute to the development of dynamic planning, as well as apply their experience in optimisation, efficient algorithm implementation, and knowledge systems to solve real-world problems. Successful Research Scientists investigate challenging questions, generate ideas, develop new solutions, and engage with business and engineering teams to ensure their solutions have a significant impact.

Level of study and preferrerd qualifications
PhD degree in computer science, mathematics, or related fields (graduating this year or recently graduated)
Schlumberger Cambridge Research (SCR) is part of Schlumberger's global network of research and engineering centers. SCR is a dynamic, high-tech environment with state-ofthe-art research and computing facilities. SCR is currently developing new drilling systems with a high degree of autonomy and intelligence, which will change how the industry works. Your role will be to work within the Automation & Planning group helping to develop the Virtual Simulators of drilling and other oilfield processes. Schlumberger Cambridge Research is a distinctive marquee-like structure dominating the High Cross site on the western outskirts of Cambridge, England. This spectacular building was completed in 1985 and the smaller second phase was opened in 1992. It has recently been classified as a Grade II listed building. Altogether, there are more than 930 m2; of laboratory space and offices for more than 100 scientists, technicians and domain experts.
