English, Maths and Science Graduate Academic Mentors 

Step Into Teaching are partnered with Secondary Schools, Academies, and 6th Form Colleges that are seeking graduates of English, Maths, and the Sciences to work as Graduate Academic Mentors from September 2021.

This is a wonderful opportunity for graduates who are considering training to become a teacher, to experience the classroom environment properly, before fully committing to a PGCE. 

The successful graduate must:

  • Hold or predicted English, Maths, or Science (or a related subject) degree with a 2:2 or above
  • Be passionate about their specialist subject
  • Be able to inspire and motivate
  • Have high expectations for students learning, achievement and behaviour
  • Be passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people
  • Be creative, friendly, and approachable.

Key Responsibilities for your role:

  • Working alongside the class/department teacher to offer support to children (Including those who need extending and challenging as well as those that struggle academically)
  • Supporting children with an EHCP alongside the SEN team
  • Leading sessions outside of the classroom with children both 1-1 and small groups
  • Planning and resourcing intervention sessions
  • Working alongside other professionals to assess children
  • Supporting children pastorally to enable them to feel safe and secure both at school and at home. 

The opportunity:

  • Secondary Schools, Academies, and 6th Form Colleges 
  • Full-time role, Monday - Friday
  • September 2021 for the full academic year
  • £17,212 - £23,660 Per Annum - Pro Rata - Term Time Only (based on location)
