Step Into Teaching can offer you a paid opportunity to use your passion and enthusiasm for mathematics and/or physics to help motivate and inspire young minds as Graduate Academic Mentors for the new academic year. This is the ideal role for you to decide if teaching is the correct path for you, then use it as a platform to launch your career.

The successful graduate must:

  • Hold/predicted Maths or Physics degree with a 2:2 or above
  • Be passionate about their specialist subject
  • Be able to inspire and motivate
  • Have high expectations for students learning achievement and behaviour
  • Be passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people
  • Be creative, friendly and approachable.

Key Responsibilities for your role:

  • Working alongside the class/department teacher to offer support to children (Including those who need extending and challenging as well as those that struggle academically)
  • Leading sessions outside of the classroom with children both 1-1 and small groups
  • Planning and resourcing intervention sessions
  • Working alongside other professionals to assess children
  • Supporting children pastorally to enable them to feel safe and secure both at school and at home.

The opportunity:

  • Secondary Schools, Academies and 6th Form Colleges
  • Full-time role, Monday - Friday
  • September 2021 for the full academic year
  • £17,212 - £23,660 Per Annum - Pro Rata - Term Time Only (based on location)
  • Chance to gain invaluable classroom experience before teacher training
  • School Direct Options available for 2022 at the same school/college.
