Key purpose

To drive innovation and education in sustainability throughout the company and with clients including accreditation and re-accreditation opportunities, such as ISO14001 and pending ‘B Corp’. submission. The role involves working closely with clients particularly independent schools delivering educational material on sustainability and sustainable diets as well as internally with the Senior Management Team. It also involves building relationships with our suppliers and support agencies.

As well as having an excellent presentation, and communication skills, you will be able to demonstrate a real passion & enthusiasm for food and sustainability.

  • Manage and oversee our current B Corp application and CSR strategy
  • Conduct quarterly and annual reporting and analysis on key sustainability indicators
  • Develop, co-ordinate and introduce processes to support the implementation of a recognised EMS framework
  • Undertake impact assessments to evaluate the implications of new legislation and identify opportunities for potential funding to develop business cases in support of key environmental initiatives
  • Develop metrics for effectively monitoring and reporting improvements in sustainability performance using appropriate media and technologies
  • Produce accurate relevant reports and responses e.g. Annual Reports for presentation to relevant groups i.e. Board Meetings, Health, Safety & Environment Committee, Sales Tenders and external groups as required
  • Conduct Environmental Assessments across the business and provide targets and guidance on key measurements and improvements.
  • Develop and deliver sustainability education sessions within schools with pupils aged 4+ years, including pre-recorded education sessions.
  • Design and deliver new materials that enhance the education and curriculum support we offer to each school/contract.
  • Conduct our environmental assessment of schools kitchen and dining area, providing guidance to our catering and management teams on improvement areas.
  • Create a new sustainability training programme and deliver this across the company.
  • Work with our Nutrition team and Food Development team and Catering managers on food waste, plastic, packaging, resource management, palm oil and sustainable diets.
  • Work with schools to support implementation of the sustainability programme and policies by adopting sustainable practices.
  • Lead the TF’s sustainability awareness campaigns e.g. Green Week, Fairtrade Fortnight, Food Waste Week etc through collaboration with internal and external groups as appropriate
  • Support the Marketing team through delivering the sustainability social media content.
  • Support client/pupil workshops and roadshows.
  • Communicate internally and externally for the business.

The Person

  • A passion for and knowledge of sustainability.
  • BSc degree, in Sustainability / Environmental Management
  • Graduates welcome to appy!
  • Experience working and teaching pupils/students (preferable but not essential)
  • Must have a valid driving licence.
