FTI Consulting’s Global Public Affairs team is looking for a trainee based in Brussels to work with the leadership team on driving the growth of the practice and business development. We are looking for an agile and dynamic person who is ready to take on responsibilities and work with a diverse global team.

Upon conclusion, this 6-month traineeship may lead to a full-time position in the Global Public Affairs team depending on performance reviews.

Who are we?

Our practice is a diverse, multinational team of more than 200 public affairs experts operating in political and financial capitals worldwide, advising clients in a wide range of sectors on how to navigate public policy and regulatory challenges at national, regional, and global level. Embedded in the Strategic Communications segment of the business, we help our clients build engagement strategies and establish sustainable relationships with stakeholder networks comprising policymakers and regulators, investors, media, policy influencers, and the broader public.

What will be your responsibilities?

As a trainee in the Global Public Affairs team, you will support the practice leadership in building and implementing market and global growth plans, conducting research and analysis, and providing organisational support on day-to-day operations.


  1. Work with global and market leads on implementing growth plans
  2. Help coordinate and drive cross-market and cross-practice projects
  3. Contribute to business development efforts
  4. Manage and update new business database and team action plans
  5. Provide briefings on companies, trends, and events
  6. Help organise internal and external meetings and events, manage logistics, and ensure follow up
  7. Support the Global Public Affairs team in identifying services to grow the practice

  1. Strong academic background
  2. Strong interest in geo/political and industry trends
  3. Prior experience / exposure to public affairs, communications, and/or consultancy work
  4. Strong research, analytical, and writing skills
  5. Business acumen, appetite for strategy and business development work
  6. Fluent in English, proficiency in other languages preferred
