We are looking for two individuals who ideally are completing their degrees in 2022 and wish to gain work-based experience on the path to obtaining Chartered status in Surveying. SEC are committed to supporting our team to progress and will provide the experience to facilitate this.

About South East Consortium

South East Consortium (SEC) is a not for profit organisation representing social housing providers in London and the South East. We run more than 140 procurements each year and currently administer more than 18 different frameworks. We’ve a number of initiatives which support the housing sector and the communities it serves.

SEC currently has 48 members who manage a combined total of 452k properties. There are constant changes in regulations and legislation meaning our members need to have the capacity and capability to plan and manage procurements and expand on technical expertise, to drive those procurements forward.

We create intelligent frameworks for our customers to use. We can provide customers with solutions pre, during and post procurement process. SEC can deliver both framework and bespoke procurement solutions. In addition we can support customers with technical training and knowledge sharing on things that truly matter to our sector.

SEC also provides technical services to our customers. They include:

  • Specification and cost model support
  • Preliminaries and preambles
  • Contract amendments and advice
  • Advice on leasehold consultation and Section 20 requirements

As part of your application, you will be required to answer these following four questions:-

  1. Please outline the degree you are doing and state how you believe this supports the role advertised.
  2. Please tell us about a project you worked on as a group, what your role was, what problems you encountered working in a group and how these were overcome, and by whom.
  3. Can you please tell us about a project you have worked on individually, where you have been solution focussed? You need to cover the following in your response:
  • Describe the issue
  • Outline the investigations you undertook
  • Describe the data you analysed
  • Outline the options you considered
  • What recommendations you made
  • The reasons you decided on this path
  • How did you present your findings (e.g. reports, presentation, meetings etc.)?
  • What were the outcomes?

4.Tell us what you have done, relating to work experience, that shows where you have got involved in work that would support your application for this role. This can include transferrable skills from other jobs but the ideal would be experience that matches the area of Procurement or Surveying.

Your answers to the above questions will be used to demonstrate how you meet the requirements of the Person Specification. This will be used to shortlist applicants for interview.

Our planned date for interviews will be during the months of March/April 2022.

You will need to be willing to travel across London and the South East in a Covid-secure manner. This will be assessed on a case by case basis with your line Manager.
