Since opening the Birmingham office in 2015, we’ve built a consistently profitable and strong legal capability, working in corporate, litigation, construction, real estate, and real estate finance. As a trainee here, you’ll get exposure to all sorts of interesting legal challenges and plenty of high-profile projects, led by some of the most talented lawyers around.
With its modern look and feel, our new office space on the eighth floor of the Colmore Building boasts the latest technology, plus more open spaces for collaborative working and for clients to work alongside us.
Whichever team you join, expect to get involved in all kinds of headline-grabbing work and learn how we innovate to go beyond clients’ expectations. Here are just a handful of examples of what each practice group have been up to.

Corporate

We advise on a broad range of corporate and commercial transactions, such as: mergers and acquisitions, private equity and secondary fund transactions, and complex commercial contracts including cross-border matters. Who for? Owner managers, listed and privately owned corporates, pension funds and other institutional investors.

Litigation

Integrated with the London Litigation team, we regularly work side by side with the London-based Global Products Law practice to advise global technology companies and manufacturing giants on product litigation and regulatory matters relating to all stages of the product life cycle.

Real Estate

One of the largest groups in our Birmingham office, we take on all kinds of legal projects – from advising on investment acquisitions and development transactions to real estate related disputes such as contentious landlord and tenant matters. It’s all part of providing a well-rounded service to investors and funds, as well as developers and significant corporate occupiers.

Real Estate Finance

Operating at the forefront of the market, advising on a huge range of transactions, including: investment, development, student accommodation, hotel and structured real estate financings, debt portfolio bids and acquisitions and financing and refinancing of existing facilities.

Construction

Because of the growth and success of our Real Estate and Real Estate Finance practice groups, we’ve expanded our offering and built this team – who provide specialist support on the construction aspects of real estate related transactions.

Who we look for

As one of the world’s largest and most established law firms, we tackle fascinating and complex legal issues for our clients. So, we look for intellectually curious, collaborative and determined individuals from all kinds of backgrounds and with all kinds of experience. A strong academic record is important: you should have, or be on track for, a good 2:1 or above in your degree. You must also be the kind of person who adapts well to new situations, delivers on their promises and has the creativity to take ideas in new directions. Above all, you must be able to work well with others and build lasting relationships with colleagues and clients alike.
