As a full service firm we cover a wide range of practice areas across three divisions: Real Estate and Infrastructure, Private Client and Company Commercial. We advise clients across a number of industries with a focus on technology, energy and waste, retail and the public sector. We service clients internationally through our ADVOC network of independent law firms, and work on a number of cross border transactions.

You will experience different areas of law during your 24 month training contract, spending six months in four different departments. You have a choice of either a Bristol or South West based training contract; our South West trainees have the opportunity to work across our Exeter, Taunton, Tiverton and Plymouth offices. To see if we’re right for each other, you can attend one of our summer schemes, which will provide an honest insight into working at Ashfords.

You can choose to spend a week in either our Bristol or Exeter office, where you will be provided with some challenging yet rewarding trainee tasks. You’ll also spend time with our current Trainees, gaining first-hand knowledge of what it’s like to be a Trainee Solicitor at Ashfords.

You will then have the opportunity to secure a training contract with us by taking part in an assessment centre on the final day of the summer scheme.

Due to the ongoing uncertainties caused by the coronavirus pandemic, we regret to say that we will not be going ahead with our Exeter and Bristol summer schemes this year. Instead, we will be offering an exciting virtual alternative in the form of an Ashfords insight day, where you will have the opportunity to attend a variety of talks and workshops, including a guide to Ashfords practice areas from our very own lawyers, a Q&A with our current trainee solicitors and a training contract insight session with a member of our HR team. The following day, there will be a virtual assessment centre, where you will have the opportunity to secure an Ashfords training contract, commencing September 2023.

All candidates who have submitted an application to attend either a Bristol or Exeter based summer scheme will be considered for a place on one of our virtual insight and assessment centre days, which will be taking place throughout July.
