How did you start your career with us?
I joined Carter Jonas’ Infrastructures team in December 2016 as a Contract Coordinator with 15 years’ administrative experience within the Infrastructures sector. During my interview I expressed my interest in properties and surveying following completion of my Construction Management degree.
Since joining, I have undertaken a Masters in Real Estate and Property Management, and have subsequently transferred my skills into my current role as a Surveyor based in Birmingham.
What sort of work do you do and what are the skills required?
I am currently working as an Asset Manager on the Highways England contract, managing a mixed portfolio of agricultural, commercial and residential properties. I am also working on the Severn Trent Water contract, providing strategic advice for their residential property portfolio.
As an overview, I provide clients with advice based on my assessment of their portfolio and making recommendations for disposal, acquisition and development potential. I undertake the management of cases involving residential and commercial properties heavily impacted by major road schemes with the support of senior management as and when required.
What is your favourite part about working at Carter Jonas?
My experience has been that no day is the same and the camaraderie of the direct team and my peers makes Carter Jonas an exciting and enjoyable firm to be a part of.
The contracts I work on are diverse and provide opportunities to broaden my skills and knowledge beyond my current role.
