Upskilling and making a career change

I recognised that I needed a structured and comprehensive education in software development to achieve my goals, which is why I joined Digital Futures. The programme provided me with a well-rounded curriculum that covered all the essential aspects of software development and helped me build a solid foundation in the field. What really appealed to me was the practical approach to learning. I appreciated the opportunity to work on real-world projects and gain hands-on experience in software development. This was a major factor in my decision to join, as I wanted to develop not just the theoretical knowledge, but also the practical skills that would be applicable once I joined a real team. Throughout the programmes, I gained a deep understanding of the software development process, which gave me a solid foundation that I could build upon as I continued to grow in my career. The experience in the Academy was challenging, but incredibly rewarding.

I was also really impressed by the support and guidance provided by the Digital Futures team, which was invaluable when it came to securing my placement. The process was much faster than I expected, which was a pleasant surprise. I attribute this speed to the combination of the skills that I developed, but also to Digital Future’s strong industry connections. The engagement team were extremely supportive and helpful throughout the placement process, guiding me through interview preparation and giving me the confidence to take on new challenges. I am grateful to Digital Futures for finding a role that was a great fit for me.

I am currently working as an Associate Software Developer in the media and telecoms industry. My responsibilities range from the development and testing of new features and functionalities, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and troubleshooting any issues. I am excited to be part of a team that is at the forefront of driving innovation and digital transformation. I feel privileged to be working with some of the brightest minds in the field, and I am confident that my experience and skills are helping to make a positive impact on the success of the team and the organisation.

My training with Digital Futures played a critical role in preparing me for this role – I am able to apply the theories and concepts I learned in a practical setting. Digital Futures continue to support me with upskilling, check-ins, regular development opportunities and access to a supportive community of alumni and trainers to help me continue growing professionally and achieve my career goals.
