Florentina Harris - Paris
I joined Dixon Wilson after graduating from University College London with a degree in Modern Languages. I had worked in London for a couple of years in another sector before deciding to transfer and train to be a Chartered Accountant. I decided to apply for Dixon Wilson in order to gain the unique opportunity to work with French and British clients, and develop an understanding of both the UK and French tax systems, all while studying for the ACA, an internationally recognised qualification. The prospect of living in Paris, such a rich and vibrant city, made it all the more appealing.
Accepting my offer to train at Dixon Wilson was a decision I am sure I will never regret. The work is extremely varied, ranging from preparing various kinds of UK and French tax returns to preparing annual accounts from start to finish. I find myself interacting with senior management on a regular basis and am able to draw upon their knowledge and experience. We are given regular feedback on progress which makes the job evermore stimulating. There is a small group of people working in the office, which means that we settle in very quickly and socialise as a group on a regular basis. From time to time we attend training courses in the London office and work alongside them on some clients which furthers our experience.
Studying for the ACA alongside the work is intense and requires dedication. Our tuition courses are run from the UK and our tutors are highly experienced and offer plenty of support. The knowledge gained from courses complements the work that we do at Dixon Wilson and gives us further knowledge to use in the future.
