Education – MBA – University of Oxford, Saïd Business School

I first joined Houlihan Lokey as a Summer Associate in the Financial Restructuring Group as part of the Company’s 10-week internship program during the summer of my MBA program. I was offered a full-time role with the London team following my completion of the summer program. Houlihan Lokey and the Financial Restructuring Group, specifically, were my top choices when entering recruiting season. From prior work experience in private credit and private equity, I was already familiar with the firm’s strong reputation for intelligence and creativity on restructuring transactions. Houlihan has advised many of the largest restructuring deals in the last ten years. It was the opportunity to work on complex transactions, with layered capital structures, across the UK and Europe that was most appealing.

Summer and full-time analysts and associates are given extensive training at the start of our programs to empower everyone with the skills to immediately work on active transactions. Our training, which was two weeks for summer hires and three weeks for full-time, included technical practice as well as networking. We were introduced to senior leaders through a speaker series and practiced technical skills by building models and pitches. Across the many senior speakers, there was a clear theme of high energy and entrepreneurship. Our colleagues are excited about the value Houlihan Lokey can offer clients and are eager to share that message.

On a day-to-day basis, most of my time is spent working closely with the analysts to develop presentations and models for active engagements or marketing opportunities. In restructuring, Houlihan Lokey advises both companies and debtors which means the outputs vary significantly depending on the project. During my internship summer, I was lucky to work on three diverse tasks - a company-side advisory for an Italian company, a debtor-side engagement for a Spanish company, and a marketing project for a UK oil and gas company.

This diversity in projects and teams continues today in my full-time role. We work as part of closely coordinated deal teams to best serve our clients. Whether its from analysts or managing directors, there is always someone to learn from. I am lucky to be surrounded by intelligent and motivated colleagues.
