I chose Mazars over firms like the big four mainly due to how they openly discussed about the work-life balance and was very supportive have having a good balance of the two. I heard from many others who work at the big 4 about the intensive hours and how you sometimes feel less significant due to how large the organisation is. However at Mazars I felt as though they were more welcoming and understanding/trustworthy of your circumstances.

As a junior, responsibility varies from client to client as you have the opportunity to work with many different types of clients. Generally you would be doing relatively tedious tasks early on as you are a junior, however if you are determined within your job line, these can be done quite quickly and depending on how proactive you are in picking up more work, you can quickly gain extra responsibility in other work areas including organising one-to-one calls with the client to conduct walkthroughs. Client work will also be juggled with college/studying and so typical activities would usually be juggling client interactions/work with studying for exams.

In general it has been a steep learning curve, with the balance of client work and studying, however the firm/college, helps facilitate this transition by organising college time with the seasonality of audit work (e.g. exams during sept-dec which is considered quiet season).
