About us

Santander is one of the largest and most successful financial groups in the world, and our ambition is to become the best bank for our customers, investors and employees. With an eye on the future, we recognise that technology is rapidly changing how customers bank and pay on the move and we are working to be at the forefront of that change.

Motivated by strong team work, an innovative approach to technology, market- leading incentive packages, and a culture of support, we deliver our personal best, every day. We focus on giving graduates everything they need to thrive as future leaders in their chosen areas. That means if they’re genuinely passionate, and bring an enthusiasm to their role, graduates are in a great position to develop the skills, experiences and relationships that will kick-start their careers.

What’s involved?

Every graduate scheme is different, and the skills you need across each one will vary. That's why we’ve applied degree neutrality to our programmes, to attract graduates with different types of degrees and grades, as we're looking for skills found within many disciplines.

Whether you're rotating across different business areas or based in London or Milton Keynes, you'll work with expert team members who will inspire and support you to be your best.

It varies between schemes, but here's a general overview of what we're looking for:

  • Actual or anticipated completion of a Bachelor’s degree
  • A collaborative approach to work
  • Passion for learning
  • Commitment to The Santander Way, and our five behaviours:
  • Think Customer: 'I care about our customers so I go the extra mile to earn their trust and loyalty'
  • Embrace change: 'I embrace new challenges and I see new ways of doing things as an opportunity to grow'
  • Act Now: 'I take accountability and manage risks accordingly, always keeping things simple'
  • Move Together: 'I seek opportunities to promote collaboration and work together to achieve common goals'
  • Speak Up: 'I feel free to raise any idea, ask any question or escalate any issues or risks, building an environment of respect and trust. I am comfortable sharing and receiving feedback.'

What can I expect?

While each scheme requires a different set of skills and output, each graduate will benefit from the following to help with their personal and professional development:

  • Exposure to critical business projects
  • Rotations to broaden your experience
  • A structured development programme focused accelerating your capability
  • Support for a professional qualification
  • Opportunity to build a career as a trusted expert
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Mentorship from our senior leaders
  • Access to ongoing career coaching
  • Face to face networking with your peers
  • Working at our innovative new facility, Unity Place*
  • A permanent position upon completion
