Hello, I am Penny and I work as a Fire Engineer at WSP. I joined as a Graduate Fire Engineer at the Manchester office after studying Chemical Engineering. I have been working with WSP for over 2 years.
Why should you join my team?
Out of all the interviews I had done, this was the interview I remembered the most. I was so nervous; however, for the first time I wasn’t interrogated with endless questions like my previous interviews. My interviewers did not just ask me questions they talked about themselves, their projects and the fire industry. I left the interview feeling inspired by the industry and the people that I met at my interview. To this day, I still work with them and remain fascinated with fire engineering.
As we are a multi-disciplinary company, there are a wide range of social groups and activities to join across the company which helped me feel included and form relationships in spite of the pandemic beginning shortly.
I have worked on a wide range of projects from residential to commercial buildings. My experience and knowledge of fire safety are always growing, you really learn something new each day and it helps when you are surrounded by people that motivate you. With recent events, our industry is only increasing with potential and challenges that keep you on your toes.
Throughout my time at WSP I have felt supported by truly amazing people that have taken an interest in my growth and areas I have wanted to progress in. People are what truly matter during each phase of your career, it is probably the reason I have stayed with WSP so far.
