Professional Master's Programme
Designed for education professionals looking for professional development, our Professional Masters Programme (PMP) has a selection of specialised and general awards, some of which can be studied as a full-time programme.
We’ll help you recognise and defend good professional practice. In addition, we’ll help you find ways to improve your own professional practice, as well as those of colleagues, through evidence-based practice.
We offer flexible study on a range of work-based, independent study, taught and core modules, leading to Grad Cert, PG Cert, PG Dip or Master’s degree qualifications.
Entry requirements for our postgraduate courses vary. We are generally looking for a good honours degree or equivalent. Some courses also require an interview or the submission of a portfolio of work.
For general and some specialised awards we offer several flexible and distance learning modules for a range of credits: 15, 30, 45, 60 at either Level 6 or 7. If you choose to study this way, you’ll be allocated a personal supervisor and a number of support hours. You can gain up to 90 credits following this pathway.
Assessments include: essays, a case study or action enquiry report, a critical analysis of the literature, a portfolio or presentation.
Assessment for most modules is based on completing assignments related to relevant professional learning tasks. An innovative range of assessment modes have been designed to reflect a diversity of professional needs and experience.
The way you’ll study will depend on the route you take through the Professional Masters Programme. In most instances, you’ll benefit from face-to-face time with a university tutor as well as undertaking personal study. This may include reading, researching literature and undertaking practical research in your work context.
We’ll also use our Virtual Learning Environment, Minerva, to provide you with online materials.
