Internet of Things with Data Analytics
In the future, all our objects will act as one. The Internet of Things (IoT) is the connection of intelligent devices that captures data about how we live and what we do. All our domestic appliances and basic networked devices are now being connected up to the Internet and are capable of sensing and transmitting data. Market research group Gartner forecasts there will be more than 20bn devices connected by 2020. As the connections grow, devices will exchange information automatically, coordinating actions without human intervention. Connected things will become ubiquitous and will create a single system that transforms the world of everyday objects into a programmable environment. IoT will change the way we think about life and work. Global industries such as manufacturing, transportation, logistics, defence, agriculture, infrastructure, retail, healthcare and food services, are already investing heavily in developing their own IoT infrastructures.
This programme shares its core modules with the MSc Internet of Things. The specialist (option) units will give you an understanding of data analytics methods, processes and selected applications applied in the area of IoT; a clear picture of explorative and confirmatory IoT data analysis technologies and/or practical experience using different data analysis tools in an IoT context.
This course will produce professionals with the specialised knowledge to meet the skills gap in data management and analysis which will help their employers gain a competitive business advantage. You will also acquire the knowledge and skills to manage real business activities through an IoT infrastructure and develop an awareness of the impact of IoT on society. The course will develop your abilities and give you the confidence to lead change in any organisation.
MSc: A Bachelors Honours degree with 2:2 in any subject, or equivalent. If English is not your first language you'll need IELTS (Academic) 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component of writing, speaking, listening and reading.
