Maritime Law (Greece)

Our group of students consists of either top-quality Law graduates or graduates of other disciplines who have relevant work experience of more than two years.

We have students from Greece and from other countries including Switzerland, Italy, Norway, France and the United Kingdom.

This course is suitable for Law graduates who want to specialise in maritime law, or maritime professionals who want to enhance their knowledge of maritime law.

Entry requirements

Applicants should normally hold a good first degree in law or an equivalent qualification (for some courses an appropriate professional qualification and relevant experience will also be acceptable). We will consider applications from students who have significant experience of work in the shipping professions such as ship's officers, ship brokers, and claims handlers. Applicants who have not graduated from a UK institution will need to hold one of the following qualifications: 7.0 overall in IELTS, or a Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English Grade C or above.

Course modules

International Trade Law; Marine Insurance; Admiralty Law; Carriage of Goods by Sea; and a Dissertation of 20,000 words.

Assessment methods

Each module is assessed by means of a 6,000 word essay. Once you have successfully completed the essays for your four modules, you will also be required to complete a 20,000 word dissertation on a maritime law topic of your choice (subject to approval).
