New developments in sensor technologies, instrument communication, networking and information processing offer many opportunities to enhance business performance through improved production, systems' optimisation and asset management; this programme, design in consultation with industry, provides a structured approach to the implementation of recent developments whilst maintaining a secure underpinning identified through many years of experience.

Entry requirements

MSc: An Honours degree 2.2 or equivalent qualification in a science or engineering subject from a British university or recognised overseas institution; or industrial experience in instrumentation and control (RPL); where English is not 1st language: IELTS 6.0 (no element less than 5.5).

Course modules

Modules include: Measurement theory and devices; professional practice; data acquisition and analysis; Control systems; measurement systems; distributed instrumentation; industrial case studies; industrial process systems; project/dissertation.

Assessment methods

Assessment will either be through 100 per cent coursework or a combination of coursework and written examination, depending on module content.

Sponsorship information

Tuition fees need to be paid to the university however some students are eligible for tuition fee support. The fees and financial support that are relevant to you depend on where you lived before coming to university; scholarships of £1,600 are available to all international students; there are no special application forms for scholarships and decisions are made on the basis of the information provided with the application forms.
