Project Management

This programme provides all the requisite knowledge and skills development that can be applied to management roles in any industry sector anywhere in the global marketplace. The degree is designed to provide an integrated, coherent, stimulating and challenging programme of study in the theory, concepts, methods, tools and techniques of project management. The academic team will provide you with expert tuition and support as you build your knowledge, understanding and skills and the programme is structured to take account of the potentially diverse background of students. The overall aim of the programme is to produce postgraduates who can apply contemporary, relevant and meaningful approaches to the practice of project management.

Entry requirements

MSc: You will need:

a minimum 2:2 in a relevant discipline

or

a professional qualification with considerable relevant work experience

Additional information:

IELTS English language requirement: 6.5 (minimum 5.5 in each component)
Pearson 58-64 (minimum 51 in each component for UKVI purposes)
RPL is accepted on this programme

MSc: The standard entry qualification is an honours degree in a relevant discipline from an approved University. The degree award should be at least second class lower level (2:2). Alternative qualifications together with substantial relevant work experience may also be deemed to be acceptable for entry to the programme subject to the approval of the programme leader.Non-UK applicants will be expected to have demonstrated competence in English language equivalent to a minimum of IELTS 6.5. Applicants who have studied and successfully achieved a UK degree within 24 months of the start of the MSc are exempt from this requirement.

Course modules

Core modules: Research methods; dissertation; project management fundamentals; project planning, executing, controlling and closure; strategic project environment; leadership for strategic execution. Option modules: Sustainable construction; maritime business and management; advanced oil and gas management; organisational change; integrated project; applying lean priniples to construction projects.

Assessment methods

The programme is based on coursework only with no formal exams. Most modules have a combination of coursework tasks to provide a balanced schedule of activities during the year.
