Top-up LLM (LLM in Legal Practice)
This 'top-up' course allows you to use your existing Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice (after either the LPC or the BPTC/BVC or equivalent level professional legal qualification), and to complete a Research Methods unit and Dissertation or Research Project in order to obtain the fully-fledged Masters degree.
To ‘top-up’ your existing qualification to a full Masters level, you will complete a single taught module in Research Methods and then successfully undertake a dissertation or research project in an area of practical law, law in practice, or academic law chosen by you (subject to approval).
Whether studying on the accelerated, part-time or distance-learning mode, the LLM in Legal Practice degree course provides flexible study which allows you to deepen your knowledge of an area of the Law directly related to practice.
Applicants should possess either a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice following successful completion of the Legal Practice Course or a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice at the Bar following successful completion of either the Bar Vocational Course or the Bar Professional Training Course or equivalent professional legal qualification.
15,000 word dissertation or assessment of your research project.
All of the books required for the course are available from the library. The University also has PC labs and a laptop loan service. However, many students choose to buy some of the core textbooks for the course and/or a laptop. Students may also need to print their assignments and other documents.
