Entry requirements

1. A minimum of three years relevant work experience plus a good (2:2) degree in any subject from a recognised university or an equivalent international, academic or professional qualification or significant management experience and a substantial record of achievement. Candidates meeting this criteria may not have previously studied at university. Supporting references are required in all cases. If English is not your first language, you must provide evidence of your English language ability. Our minimum requirements are: IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL iBT® 90 or TOEFL paper-based test 577.
Manchester Metropolitan University has a British Council accredited English Language Centre. Prospective students who do not have English as a first language are strongly encouraged to attend a pre-sessional English class in July and August. For students that require additional English language preparation prior to the MBA, we offer various English courses at different levels. For more details, please see The GMAT exam, which measures verbal, mathematical, and analytical writing skills, is not normally required. However, if we do not recognise your previous qualifications you may be required to take GMAT.

Course modules

Modules include: Year 1: Reflective personal leadership; leading, managing & developing people; operations management; strategic marketing. Year 2: MBA in Financial Services; MBA in digital management.

Assessment methods

Assessment is through a combination of individual assignments, time-constrained activities, exams and presentations.


All of the books required for the course are available from the library. The University also has PC labs and a laptop loan service. However, many students choose to buy some of the core textbooks for the course and/or a laptop. Students may also need to print their assignments and other documents. Campus printing costs start from 5p per page. Estimated costs are £300 for a laptop up to £100 each year for books and printing.
