Legal Practice Course (LPC)
Our Legal Practice Course (LPC) at Manchester Law School gives you the essential training you need to prepare for life as a solicitor. Our client focused LPC will give you the legal knowledge, skills and commercial understanding to thrive in today's market, placing an emphasis on simulating real-life legal scenarios.
The course is both practical and interactive, using workshops and effective teaching methods supported by online materials, to help you develop the practical and theoretical skills required for legal practice. You will learn how to think and behave like a legal professional from the outset.
If you are from the UK or EU, you may be eligible for a Postgraduate Loan to fund your studies if you choose the combined Legal Practice Course (LPC) and LLM course, the LLM in Legal Practice (Full Award). Terms and conditions apply.
"The LPC is a challenging course, but the tutors inspire you to be proactive and astute. They are extremely supportive and their guidance helps you to be successful, while nurtuing the skills necessary to impress an employer."

To enrol on the LPC you will need to satisfy us that you have a qualifying law degree or GDL qualification. You will normally have a UK honours degree, or international equivalent.
All of the books required for the course are available from the library. The University also has PC labs and a laptop loan service. However, many students choose to buy some of the core textbooks for the course and/or a laptop. Students may also need to print their assignments and other documents. Campus printing costs start from 5p per page. Estimated costs are £300 for a laptop up to £100 each year for books and printing.
There are no compulsory placements but some electives offer competitive placements if you applied for a competitive placement then any associated costs, such as travel to the placement or to court within the placement would be your responsibility. As those costs may vary considerably, we cannot estimate costs.
In addition to tuition fees, a registration fee of £15 is payable in year 1.
