Biomedical Science

This course provides a biological understanding of human disease processes, the treatment principles of such diseases, and the underlying biological disciplines that enable their study and explanation. Focused on career development for biomedical scientists, it also allows people from non biomedical backgrounds to learn these skills.

Course modules

Core modules: Cell Culture and Antibody Technology; Research Methods and Bioethics; Research Project.

Optional modules: Microbial Diagnostics; Pharmacology; Molecular Biology; Biology of Disease; Cellular Pathology; Clinical Chemistry; Haematology and Transfusion Science; Medical Microbiology.

Assessment methods

Assessment methods include: written assignments; computer-aided learning packages; dissertation; oral presentation; laboratory reports; formal examinations.
