Staffordshire University

Advanced Technology

The Advanced Technology programme has been designed to allow you to study a range of engineering and technology subjects at postgraduate level.

It offers a choice of flexible options - you can choose to study full time at the University, to combine work and study (where the majority of your study will be based in your place of work) or to study by distance learning if that suits you best.

This course provides an opportunity for you to earn a Masters degree by studying in different formats, in work, distance learning of full time. There are a number of prescribed subtitles of MSc Advanced Technology:

Mechanical Engineering
Electronic Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Technology Management
Energy Technology
Design Technology
Sports Technology
Digital Media Technology

You can also negotiate to study in a different area that the University can support using the MSc Advanced Technology title.

Entry requirements

Normal requirements are at least a second class honours degree or equivalent in technology, engineering, or a discipline related to the proposed MSc Advanced Technology title. If you do not meet the above but you have significant appropriate experience, you may be considered for enrolment provided that you can satisfy the University that you are capable of responding to the challenge of postgraduate work.

Fees for part-time study are pro-rata to that paid for full-time study. This means that regardless of whether you choose part-time or full-time study, you pay broadly the same amount for the course you choose to undertake.

The duration of the course and the fees you are charged each year or semester are determined by the speed at which you wish to progress through the course. This is called the 'intensity of study'. So if you choose to study at half the rate of a full-time student, you’d pay half the full-time course fees each year, and take twice as long to complete your course compared to full-time. If you choose to study at a different intensity this will alter the duration and fee payment rate
