Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering

This course will focus on advances in mechanical and manufacturing engineering, together with broader engineering topics, to gain the knowledge needed for registration as a Chartered Engineer (CEng). You'll develop the skills and knowledge employers are looking for in areas such as automotive, aerospace, petrochemical, scientific or manufacturing applications. We have excellent industry links with local businesses including Rolls-Royce, Toyota, Balfour Beatty, Bombardier, Pektron, and the Local Enterprise Partnership, D2N2.

Entry requirements

An engineering or science Honours degree (2.2 or above); or equivalent; an equivalent professional qualification; or industrial or professional experience. Students whose 1st language is not English should have an IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent.

Course modules

Modules include: research methods: application and evaluation; advanced mechanical modelling and e-manufacturing; forensic engineering, failure analysis and prevention; cpd and strategic management; advanced mechanical design and manufacturing engineering; environmental performance management for sustainable development; robotics and manufacturing control systems; negotiated module; independent scholarship.

Assessment methods

Assessment is by a mixture of coursework and examination as appropriate.

Fees

You will need to gain 180 credits in total to complete the full MA or MSc. If you are studying part time you will normally complete your studies over two or three years, depending on the course structure.
