Education (English for Speakers of Other Languages)

The course provides students with a strong theoretical and practical foundation, touching on such areas as applied linguistics, language acquisition, ESL/EFL classroom methods, testing, cross-cultural considerations and English as a global language.

Entry requirements

A good undergraduate degree (2.2 or above) or an equivalent level 6 qualification (equivalent overseas qualifications which will be verified by NARIC) and be currently working within the education arena or a level 5 teaching qualification plus evidence of 5 years' teaching experience and be currently working within the education arena. Applicants will also require GCSE grade C or equivalent in English. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.0 or equivalent.

Course modules

Modules include: masterly academic practices; evidence based practice; independent study; the principles of English language teaching; language learning (theory and practice).

Research project.
