Advanced Computer Networks

The course follows the most important aspects of the industry-recognised CISCO Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Routing and Switching, which will develop your practical skills even further by using our dedicated networking laboratory. It is taught by experienced computer network specialists and ex-industry professionals and provides the opportunity to develop vital skills in design, implement, maintain and secure wired and wireless networks. Upon completion, you'll be equipped for a successful career in networking such as network engineer, network developer and network consultant etc. Alternatively, you could join a higher research programme leading to PhD qualification.

Entry requirements

An appropriate Honours degree (at least 2.2) or equivalent qualifications/experience in a computing discipline. Applicants whose 1st language is not English will need to demonstrate proficiency in English (IELTS 6.0 or equivalent).

Course modules

Modules: studying at Master's level and research methods; network management concepts; advanced network switching; securing networks; advanced network routing; mobile and wireless routing; independent scholarship.

Assessment methods

Students will be assessed by coursework. There will be a range of coursework techniques including analytical essays, reports on lab-based problems, research paper, assignments using case studies, multi-task portfolios and presentations.
