Spatial Planning with Environmental Assessment (MSc)

The purpose of environmental assessment is to determine the potential impacts on the environment of proposals for major development. The programme aims to develop students' understanding of the application of the instruments of assessment of the environment within the UK/Scottish spatial planning context through reviewing policy and case studies.

Entry requirements

MSc: Applicants normally have 2.1 Honours degree, or equivalent, in a suitable discipline; applications from individuals, without an honours degree, but with substantial work experience relevant to spatial planning, are considered; IELTS of 6.5 (or equivalent).

Course modules

Spatial analysis; statutory planning; property development processes; concepts of spatial planning; sustainability in contemporary cities; optional 3rd module; dissertation

Assessment methods

Assessment methods include: Report writing; essay writing; oral presentations; group-work tasks; dissertation
