International Oil and Gas Management (MSc)
This programme is designed for graduates who aspire to work in the energy sector and who have a particular interest in oil and gas or related sectors.
MSc: A good 4-year degree, equivalent to a UK Honours degree, preferably at Upper 2nd Class level or above. Candidates holding the equivalent of a good 2nd Class lower degree may also apply. Applicants must provide degree certificates and academic transcripts with their application. Preferred degree disciplines are law, economics, geology, petroleum or mining engineering, finance, business, management. Work experience in the energy/natural resources industry is an advantage, though it is not a strict requirement for admission to the MSc. IELTS of 6.5 if 1st language is not English.
Modules may include: natural resources sectors (a multidisciplinary introduction); project report or internship; foundation financial accounting; introduction to finance; management in energy and natural resources industries; strategic management and organisational analysis; international petroleum law and policy; national and comparative oil and gas law; petroleum policy and economics; energy economics (the issues); international relations and energy and natural resources; financial and project analysis of natural resources and energy ventures; human resource management; business strategy in the extractive industries; project management processes in the natural resources sector; leadership and decision making; stakeholder management and business ethics; risk and crisis management; financial and project analysis of natural resources and energy ventures; human resource management.
Assessment varies between modules but generally combines examination and coursework, with many modules also utilising case studies, presentations or a portfolio of assessed work.
