Education (Music Education)

The aim of this course is to enable those with experience of music education to deepen their understanding of the theoretical and contextual issues related to their work, and to undertake extended reflective evaluation of aspects of their practice.

Working in our purpose-built music education department, and in conjunction with our extensive partnership of school and community-based music organisations, you will be able to develop both your musical skills and your knowledge of music education.

The Music Education pathway within the MA/PG Diploma in Education enables you to benefit from a wide choice of generic modules that explore education and educational research as well as specifically musical interests.

Entry requirements

You are normally required to have a good undergraduate honours degree (or equivalent from a university outside the UK). If you have other qualifications and a number of years' relevant work experience then you may also be eligible to apply.

You should also have prior experience of music or music education study at higher education level, or equivalent experience as a music teacher.
