5G Advanced Communications
The course brings together multimedia concepts and standards, wireless and fixed broadband communication systems and protocols, multimedia programming concepts, internet and web applications, and programming paradigms; these foundations are unified through system design issues within taught classes, hands-on or self-directed case study assignments and extended project work.
A first or good second-class UK Honours degree or equivalent overseas qualification in electronic, electrical or communications engineering, or a related subject from a recognised academic institution.
English language requirements
Candidates whose first language is not English or who have not undertaken their undergraduate course in the UK must possess a recent UKBA-recognised English qualification.
Compulsory modules: Digital signal processing principles; advanced digital signal processing principles; embedded systems design; image and video processing; assignment and professional studies; research project / internship.
Elective modules: Power electronics, machines and applications; power system design, operation and protection; high voltage technology and electromagnetic compatibility; information transmission and security; communications networks; control principles; advanced power system analysis and protection; power electronic for energy and drive control; power system economics, markets and asset management; wind energy and distributed energy resources; control techniques; software engineering.
A variety of assessment techniques are used throughout the course. You'll complete at least six modules. Each module has a combination of written assignments, individual and group reports, oral presentations, practical lab work and, where appropriate, an end-of-term exam.
Course fees for Scottish and EU students are £5,500. For students from the rest of the UK, course fees are £9,000. Course fees for international students are £18,000.
