Civil Engineering

This fully accredited programme helps graduate engineers to acquire advanced capabilities and in-depth knowledge across a range of civil-engineering disciplines, including bridge engineering, construction management, and geotechnical, structural and water engineering. This well-established programme is delivered by experienced University staff, together with practising engineers from consultancies and local authorities. You can access six study streams on this Masters programme: bridge engineering; construction management; geotechnical engineering; structural engineering; water engineering and environmental engineering; infrastructure engineering and management. As well as supporting the career development of Civil Engineering graduates, this programme provides the necessary further learning for engineers working in the construction industry who hold related first degrees such as engineering geology or construction management. It is also designed to update the technical skills of practising engineers engaged in the planning, design, construction and operation of civil-engineering works.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 60 per cent in a UK honours degree in civil engineering accredited to CEng, with a minimum of 60 per cent in Structures and Codified Design subjects, Management and Soil Mechanics / Geotechnics subjects. Alternatively, a minimum of 70 per cent in a UK honours degree in civil engineering accredited to IEng, plus approval from the relevant institution. Overseas equivalent qualifications are also accepted.
