Construction Law and Dispute Resolution
This course provides an understanding of the legal framework within which construction organisations and projects are managed, including the resolution of disputes that arise. Students develop their capabilities to analyse the nature of the risks in construction, general strategies for allocating them and systems for managing their occurrence.
A pass at degree level. Students are selected using application form and references in the 1st instance and may be invited for interview. Students applying for individual modules are required to demonstrate the ability to absorb technical concepts and detail, possibly by way of their previous industrial or commercial experience. Minimum English competency is the standard MSc entry: IELTS 6.0 or equivalent.
Modules include: advanced project planning and control; construction law principles; dispute avoidance; dispute resolution principles; dispute resolution practice and procedures; international construction law; advanced issues in construction law; forms of contracts.
