Civil Engineering

This course develops knowledge and understanding of aspects of civil engineering to develop careers within the construction profession. Students develop their capabilities for investigation, analysis and design in the context of a dynamic global environment where complexity of factors such as sustainability and environmental impact has a significant impact on engineering processes.

Entry requirements

An Honours degree in a Civil Engineering discipline or equivalent is normally required. Students are selected using application form and references in the 1st instance and may be invited for interview. Students applying for individual modules will be required to demonstrate the ability to absorb technical concepts and detail, possibly by way of their previous industrial or commercial experience. Minimum English competency is the standard Postgraduate entry: IELTS 6.0 or equivalent. Applicants with substantial professional experience in related fields with a qualification equivalent to at least Higher National Certificate/Diploma are also considered. These candidates need to produce evidence of the professional experience (i.e. references, portfolio of projects, etc.), and attend an interview.
