Welsh Water keep 3 million people healthy each day with safe, reliable water, and take away wastewater to clean.

Who we are

At Welsh Water we're not for profit – we’re the only water company of our kind in the UK. We don’t have shareholders. This means that we’re able to keep bills down and put every single penny we make straight back into looking after your water and beautiful environment – now, and for years to come.

We think it’s a much better way of doing things, allowing us to keep 3 million people healthy each day with safe, reliable water, and take away wastewater to clean, before returning it safely to our beautiful rivers and seas.

Our 3,000 colleagues are some of the most skilled and respected people in the industry. We work to serve customers in most of Wales, Herefordshire and communities along the English border, whether it’s our customer experience advisors helping customers with their bills, or sewer operatives unblocking our pipes. We’re passionate about what we do.

When you work for Welsh Water you’ll be joining a company full of individuals who take pride in their work and the business. In fact, we would go so far as to say that we have a unique culture – where people are committed to delivering excellent service, and where quality really counts - you could be one of them!

In return, we are passionate about looking after our colleagues, offering rewards and benefits that rival many within the industry. Salary, holiday entitlement and rest breaks are aligned to our own benefits from day one.

Application Tips

We know that applying for a job can sometimes be confusing.

We’ve added some handy tips here to make the recruitment process a little less complicated.

1. Have a CV ready before you apply.

Our recruitment process, as well as many others, asks that you upload a CV. Make sure yours is up-to-date, relevant to the job you are applying for and ready to upload before you start the application process.

2. Covering letters, what’s the point?

A covering letter is a great opportunity for you to show us why you are the right person for the role. Highlight your relevant qualifications, skills and experience and show us how enthusiastic you are about working here. There’s no need to post it anywhere either, just upload along with your CV.

3. Accessibility requirements and reducing unconscious bias.

We are an inclusive employer. If we can support you further at any point during the recruitment process, then please let us know. We can make reasonable adjustments for any stage of your assessment. Also, as a company committed to the improvement of equality and diversity, we endorse “guaranteed interviews”. This is where, for a candidate who has disclosed that they identify as part of an underrepresented group, we aim to provide a guaranteed interview if the candidate meets the essential criteria of the role - as listed on our advert.

As part of our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusivity, we recognise the challenge that unconscious bias can present within the recruitment process. As such, we now encourage candidates to submit their application using only their initials in the first, last and preferred name fields as well as on their CVs. By enabling this option on the application form, we hope to improve candidate confidence in Welsh Water as an equal opportunities employer.

This is a next step in creating a fairer recruitment process and also supports our guaranteed interview commitment.

4. Company values.

Welsh Water is a value driven organisation. This means that the way you behave and treat other people is just as important to us as your ability to do the job. That’s why we ask all applicants to complete a short assessment based upon our values. When you’ve submitted an application, you’ll get sent the link to complete it. It shouldn’t take much longer than about 15 minutes, but please let us know if you need any special assistance in order to complete.

5. Research the company.

We’ve got some great content on YouTube, our social media feeds and our websites, as well as very experienced and knowledgeable people working for the business. Researching the business will help you at all stages of the recruitment process.
