You will have the opportunity to hear first-hand what current trainees and lawyers think about the firm. It's a fantastic opportunity to network, get to know our people, and ask our trainees about their training contract and their advice on how to apply. You will gain valuable knowledge about the legal industry and how you can play a part in the future of the legal profession.

When are the insight evenings?

We’re delighted to invite you to attend a virtual insight evening. We’re hosting events throughout the year.

Our event dates will take place before the placement and training contract deadlines, so you can hear all of our top tips before submitting your placement and training contract application. We advise you to select an insight evening at the location where you would like to complete your placement and training contract.

Each event will focus on the qualification route for that country / relevant law society, as well as what you can expect as a trainee solicitor based in one of the offices there.

Our events will run between 17:45 – 20:30. We host these in the evening, so you can fit them in around other commitments such as work or study.

What is an insight evening?

An insight evening is an opportunity for you to get to know Shoosmiths and decide whether we are the right fit for your future.

Attending an event will give you an insight into our practice areas and clients, our training contract, and the skills you need to develop and become a successful solicitor. The event will be packed with opportunities for you to virtually meet our people, build relationships, and include valuable advice for your training contract application.

You will hear from our current trainees who will explain what attracted them to Shoosmiths, and you’ll hear from our partners who will share their journey from trainee to lawyer.

The emerging talent team will share tips with you about how to perfect your training contract application and a deep-dive on how to approach the strengths-based assessment centre.

We know you will have lots of questions, so there will be an opportunity for you to ask our panels lots of questions throughout the event.

Why should I attend an insight evening?

What else do I need to know?

Our events will run between 17:45 – 20:30. We host these in the evening, so you can fit them in around other commitments such as work or study. We have released the dates of the events so that you can add them to your diary when you register.

Whilst you’ll want to make a good impression, you won’t be assessed at the event. It’s simply a great chance for you to find out more about us.

If you can’t make it to an insight evening, we will be hosting other events through the year, have a look at our meet us page to see other events which you can attend.

How do I apply?

You will need to submit short application form here. You will still be asked to include some personal details and answer one question about their interest in a career in law at Shoosmiths.

Once you have submitted your application, we will email you to confirm your place at the event.

Shoosmiths insight evenings are open to applicants in any year of study at university, in any discipline, graduates and postgraduate students who are interested in a career as a solicitor.
