Career Prospects

7.6 / 10

(based on 7 ratings in 2019)

"I feel as though it's easy to get stuck after around 10 years of experience, but there are good prospects in the early years."
Entry level, Ampthill, Bedford, Bedfordshire
"There's a clear and well trodden path from graduate scheme to career progression."
Graduate, Bedford
"Promotion from graduate to systems engineer happens after two years. From there you can be promoted by taking on additional responsibility and delivering for programmes."
Graduate, Havant
"There's automatic promotion after two years as a graduate. After that it slows down but there's always a way up."
Graduate, Portsmouth
"Opportunities are there for those who want them."
Graduate, Ampthill
"I've found some success but it is unclear exactly how and when I will be able to move up further. There is transparency to a sufficient level but promotions can be circumstantial and project related and it cannot always be a fair system. This is the sense I get from the workplace."
Graduate, Havant

"As a graduate on the scheme, progression is very unlikely. However, a review is undertaken every six months to assess wages and performance."
Graduate, Ampthill
"There is a reasonable amount of transparency, although there appears to be a glass ceiling for high achievers. Basically, it becomes difficult to move up faster than a certain rate."
Graduate, Bedford
"The work you are given allows you to challenge yourself and work towards the next band. Promotions are dependent on your performance and you have a review every six months."
Graduate, Havant
"There is a defined structure in place regarding the possibilities for promotion and career progression."
Graduate, Ampthill
"If you perform, there are places to go."
Graduate, Ampthill

"Promotions generally start to occur following the completion of the two-year graduate scheme. Job roles and responsibilities are provided on the company intranet so my advice would be to find the roles and responsibilities one above your current position and start working towards that. This increases your chances of being selected when they do promote someone."
Graduate, Havant, UK
"Career growth seems to slow down after the graduate scheme."
Graduate, Ampthill - Bedfordshire
"You can move up the lower ranks relatively easily but it can then be quite hard to enter management."
Graduate, Ampthill
"Lockheed Martin pushes you to rise up the ranks but this is also dependant on the employee's ambition."
Graduate, Havant
"Promotion is possible but very competitive. In order to stand out, a lot of effort can sometimes be required where the payoff can be marginal in the short term. This not to say it's impossible to rapidly move up the ranks but it will require a lot of effort and a comprehensive knowledge of the review cycle."
Graduate, Ampthill
