Relations with Management

8.0 / 10

(based on 7 ratings in 2019)

"This depends on the manager. Line managers are hugely supportive and are encouraged to devote time to their subordinates. Functional managers within engineering are outstanding in their support of grads."
Graduate, Bedford
"Managers are accessible and you have monthly discussions with them to talk about career development, project work, needs and concerns. Part of this includes a Growth Oriented Career (GOCAP) booklet that can help plan, track and log progress towards career development. Outside of that, there is a mentorship scheme that gives you 30 minutes a month separate to your manager."
Graduate, Havant
"We have very open managers and there are multiple opportunities for mentoring."
Graduate, Ampthill
"My manager is based overseas so it can sometimes be difficult to get hold of them. There is currently a buddy system in my office, which is when a college watches over your work and gives lots of feedback."
Graduate, Havant
"Managers are fairly good here. First-line managers are there to help when you need it and quite good at helping you follow the processes when you want to do something."
Graduate, Havant

"My line manager is very approachable and always has the time to talk if necessary. The programme management team, on the other hand, doesn't interact with me much."
Graduate, Ampthill
"Managers always make time to speak to you and, if they are not in the office, they are contactable via email or phone calls."
Mid level, Whiteley
"Managers are quite hit and miss. There are a lot of good managers and mentors within the company but certainly a few to avoid as well."
Graduate, Bedford
"Managers are very happy to support their teams. The office culture allows the graduates to interact with everyone on the floor as well as executives. This is not something you see at every company."
Graduate, Havant
"The managers do make good mentors but you will need to seek them out. Recognition can be inconsistent."
Graduate, Ampthill

"Managers often have their doors open and are happy for you to pop in and ask them questions. They're very approachable, humble and grounded and are often happy to provide career guidance where possible."
Graduate, Havant, UK
"Managers are always willing to sit down and speak about any concerns. They're very good and always make themselves approachable. Mid-year and end-of-year reviews are held and feedback is received on performance. There are recognition schemes in place for when you do well including 'thank you' cards to spend in the canteen and occasional spot awards."
Graduate, Ampthill - Bedfordshire
"Managers are very accessible and they make time for feedback and praise etc."
Graduate, Whiteley
"Everyone is very accessible and actively mentors new recruits."
Graduate, Havant
"In my experience, line managers are quite accessible. My own leadership team offers a lot of advice that is relevant to both programme and professional development challenges. Formal feedback is done by yearly review that culminates in praise and recognition of personal achievements. The review cycle is quite thorough and requires a lot of employee participation."
